Customer reviews:

I love InMotion. Whenever I have a support issue it’s always resolved by the end of the chat.
With my previous host I waited for 20-30 mins to speak with someone, communication was always an issue, and half the time they had to escalate it to another department resolve the issue (which added several more hours to the process).
I’m very happy with the support I’ve received with InMotion and I also appreciate the ease of the dashboard and help articles. They put a lot of thought into the customer experience.

I am NOT alone, anymore…

Now things have changed. Wow, have they changed!

I am now happy to say I am a proud customer of InMotion Hosting. YAY!

I bought a WordPress Template and chose InMotion Hosting to keep my files safe and sound.

Needing to ask many questions about “simple little issues” relating to uploading files; set-up; log-in; WordPress; cPanel; email; terminology; and all those tricky little things formerly foreign to me.

“Simple little issues”? Yeah, to the tech gurus at InMotion Hosting, but not to me. These matters were, most important and were causing me anxiety!

InMotion Hosting make it so easy to ask a question. Literally, everywhere I ventured on their Site I would find a button to click on where I could either launch “Chat” or submit a “Ticket”.

Their “Chat” is great! Very helpful, with an expert team of consultants who have either answered my “pressing” question or passed me on to someone who could satisfy my query within minutes, leaving me content and able to move on with my great adventure.

“Submitting a Ticket” is so simple and InMotion’s informed Consultants get back to me via email within an hour or so. Leaving me time to make a cuppa and mentally review my issue.

InMotion Hosting also boast a busy “Forum” with many people ready and willing to assist.

There has not been a single issue I have not been helped with. I have “bugged” at least twenty Consultants and every time am answered with enthusiasm and knowledge.

InMotion Hosting have a wonderful team representing their great products and services. I gladly recommend them to you and all your friends.

Thank you InMotion Hosting.

Previously the people I had chosen to host my websites have been aloof and remained distant; an entity I had difficulty dealing with. Subsequently, I left many of my questions unaddressed or researched them myself with google. Sometimes not very well, they remained a problem.

My company had been with InMotion Hosting for over 2 years. When we started with InMotion, we were hosting our own websites, but decided to give the Cloud a try.

We started slow, with a re-seller account and a few web sites. During the first year, we ended up moving 66 web sites to InMotion, about half of them Word Press. InMotion’s support is amazing, 1st Class. Any problem or question is answered professionally. I usually use chat, and have my issues addressed within minutes.

We found that we were taxing our re-seller account, so we opted for 2 VPS accounts. The migration could not have been easier, InMotion techs did it all, with no down time. Our VPS’s are running great. We no longer host in-house, our electric bill is way down, we don’t have to buy servers, we don’t need as many Internet circuits, and when something goes wrong, the problem is usually fixed before we have time to contact InMotion. Their VPS hosting is managed, so we don’t have to worry about updating OS, etc.

All and all, the move to InMotion has been a great experience, and saved money. It has also saved our sanity, as we no longer need to worry about all the problems and resources required when running things in house. Thank you InMotion!

InMotion Hosting’s Packages

Some hosts focus on one or two hosting services, but InMotion Hosting really does cover the entire spectrum, with most plan features angled to appeal to medium and large businesses. What follows is a brief introduction to its core hosting services.

Shared hosting services are marketed as Business Hosting. All plans are compatible with software that requires PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Ruby, Perl, or Python. New customers get a free domain, as well as the option of having WordPress, Joomla!, or PrestaShop installed automatically. Plans also include SSD storage, free daily backups, G Suite (Google Apps) integration, 400+ one-click installers, and a choice of datacenter locations. Reseller plans are also available, with similar plan features.

Separate WordPress hosting packages feature caching technology, SSDs, backups, and free themes. Alternatively, you can opt for a BoldGrid plan, which combines the convenience of a drag-and-drop sitebuilder with the flexibility of the WordPress backend.

VPS hosting is provisioned in the cloud for high uptime and simple management. Plans include free cPanel, and free snapshot backups are included so you can revert your server to a previous snapshot if something goes wrong. Each VPS includes SSDs, although CPU cores are “unlocked” — not assigned. InMotion Hosting says this gives you the freedom to use as many cores as you need.

Dedicated servers include management, cPanel, SSDs, and a free session with a system administrator to get things moving.

It’s important to mention that InMotion Hosting promotes its personal service as much as it promotes its technology, and US-based support is a key feature across all plans.

Infrastructure and Datacenters

All plans offer Inmotion Hosting customers the ability to choose a datacenter location. The only downside is the relatively limited choice of locations. West or east coast will be more than enough for customers in North America. But customers further away would likely expect to see at least one facility in Europe or Asia.

InMotion Hosting claims to own the first green datacenter in LA. Some hosting providers purchase renewable energy credits to claim eco-friendly credentials, but Inmotion Hosting uses a new type of air circulation to cut down on air conditioning power instead. There’s no word on whether this datacenter uses any form of renewable power to actually keep the lights on, but it does say that the cooling system has cut energy usage by 70%.

InMotion Hosting specifies that it runs high-end Dell servers, and Brocade and Cisco routers. The west coast facility is connected through One Wilshire, which has been called the most connected building in the world.

Customer Support

InMotion Hosting has branded its support service Premier Support. Customers don’t need to pay extra to opt in; it’s included on all plans.

Support is provided via phone, chat, and email, and the support department is open 24/7. It offers a degree of onboarding included. For example, there’s a free session with a system administrator on some of its large business plans, and it offers a free service called Launch Assist to get resellers and dedicated customers off on the right track. Launch Assist includes email configuration, cron setup, server security installations, and custom hardware (dedicated only).

Guarantees and Assurances

The uptime guarantee at InMotion Hosting varies according to plan, but be sure to check the fine print. Business (shared) hosting customers are guaranteed 99.9% uptime, with hosting credits for downtime beyond 0.1%. This is only available on certain packages.

On a dedicated hosting plan, you’ll get a 99.999% network guarantee; this is lowered to 99.99% on other plans. But remember: a network guarantee isn’t the same as an uptime guarantee.

There is a 90-day money-back guarantee on shared plans, dropping to 30 days on dedicated servers.

InMotion Hosting includes a lot of desirable hosting features, even on its shared hosting plans. The fact that it has rebranded shared to “business” shows that it takes its entry level plans seriously. Its best features include free daily backups, SSD storage as standard, and a focus on providing the latest version of PHP. The Launch Assist service will also act as a reassuring helping hand for businesses that are growing rapidly.

There are two main points to consider before signing up; the lack of non-US datacenter locations, if this matters to you, and the lack of a clearly defined uptime promise for some shared hosting plans. But the focus on solid support and good technical grounding will be attractive for many small business customers.
